Concerned about the increasing incidence of Alzheimer’s in Barbados, the National Committee on Ageing will host a seminar, next week, in observance of World Alzheimer’s Day, on Monday, September 21, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.

It will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and its theme is "Alzheimer’s: A Social Concern".??

Issues to be dealt with at the seminar include the effects of this disease on patients and their families, caregivers, and the society in general, as well as the implications for policy action.

Participants will be drawn from caregivers and policy makers in geriatric hospitals, senior citizens’ homes, government departments and non-governmental organisations dealing with the health care of the aged, and the community.??

Minister of Social Care, Christopher Sinckler, will open the seminar.
