Intellectual Property and Copyright will be under the microscope this Thursday, November 5, when the Media Resource Department (MRD) hosts a seminar in its auditorium at the Elsie Payne Complex, Constitution Road, St. Michael, at 10:00 a.m.

The key aim of the discussion is to make officers throughout the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation more aware of the copyright laws and regulations existing in Barbados.

Deputy Registrar of the Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office, Merlene Weekes-Libert and Operations Manager of COSCAP, Gail Callendar, will discuss a number of issues related to music, images, design, invention, books and ideas.

Among these are: patents, copyright, trademarks, fair use, copyright law and infringement. An interesting, educational and informative discussion is anticipated.??The event forms part of the activities to mark the 70th anniversary of the MRD.
