Minister of Health, Donville Inniss, will give the opening address at a seminar to mark Nurses Week entitled, Closing The Gap: From Evidence to Action on Wednesday, May 9, at The Savannah Hotel, Hastings, Christ Church, at 8:30 a.m.
The week, which runs from May 6 – 12, will feature a Community Health Fair and Nursing Showcase at Jubilee Gardens, the City, on Friday, May 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and will culminate on Saturday, May 12, International Nurses Day, with a bus ride from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. On that day, nurses will visit a number of health care facilities including: the Gordon Cummins District Hospital, the Elayne Scantlebury Centre and the St. Lucy District Hospital. This will be followed by sporting activities at the St. Lucy District Hospital.
During the week, representatives from the Barbados Nurses Association will also visit various health care facilities throughout the island.
