Ambassador of Barbados to China, Sir Lloyd Erskine Sandiford????

Accessing the Chinese market and opportunities for Barbadian businesses in China are amongst the key topics to be discussed at an upcoming seminar entitled Engaging China: Options, Opportunities, Strategies.

It will to be hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade on Tuesday, December 13, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St. Michael.

According to Foreign Services Officer, David Gibbs, the purpose of this free seminar is to familiarise business persons in Barbados about the policy, commercial and cultural aspects of doing business with China.??

"Many persons are not certain where to begin when trying to access the Chinese market, maybe because the country is far away or maybe because of perceived language barriers, but this seminar serves to demystify all of this," Mr. Gibbs said, adding that officials who participated in China’s Shanghai Expo and Trade Mission would also examine lessons learnt from that experience.

Revealing that Ambassador of Barbados to China, Sir Lloyd Erskine Sandiford would deliver the keynote address, Mr. Gibbs also explained that the seminar would help to bridge gaps in knowledge relating to China, as well as raise the awareness of opportunities and challenges in areas such as education and the creative industries.

Other topics to be discussed at the seminar include Opportunities for Foreign Direct Investment, Tourism and Trading with China.

Persons who wish to attend the seminar could contact Mr. David Gibbs, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, at 431-2277 or 431-2200.??
