The Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) Implementation Unit of the Foreign Trade Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, will host a Validation Seminar next week, in collaboration with consultants from WYG Consulting, at the Accra Beach Hotel, Rockley, Christ Church.

The seminar, entitled: Strengthening the Capacity of Barbadian Services Suppliers to Compete effectively in the EU and Other International Markets will be held on Thursday, December 9, from 8.30 a.m. to 4.15 p.m.

The event is being organised to facilitate the WYG Consulting group completing a four-month consultation project aimed at assisting Barbadian service suppliers in becoming more knowledgeable about European Union (EU) markets.

The primary focus of the consultancy, which ends this month, included an audit of Barbadian service providers in order to assess their capacity to export services to the EU market.?? There was also identification of opportunities in the EU market for these providers; and the determination of what needs to be done to equip them to effectively compete and take advantage of market access opportunities in the EU.

WYG Consulting was also required to organise the Validation Seminar, together with the beneficiary organisation, in order to present to service suppliers findings emanating from the study and to discuss the best way forward.

It will be officially addressed by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean. Consultant on EPA Implementation and Project Coordinator, Errol Humphrey and Head of EU Delegation to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Valeriano Diaz, will also deliver remarks.??jgill@barbados.gov.bb
