This island’s Minister of Commerce, Consumer Affairs and Business Development has urged those involved in fashion to support each other in their various ventures.
Senator Lynette Eastmond was speaking last evening at the launch of the Le Jade Man Competition at the Frank Collymore Hall which will seek to assist a designer with the branding and launch of a clothing line.
According to her, the increasingly professional approach to the culture and entertainment industries is refreshing and inspiring; and she wants to see positive competition in all these areas.

The Commerce Minister urged her audience, largely of fashion designers, to “be a positive force in the industry; with a vision of supporting the efforts which will help to build a fashion industry; where you can learn to employ full-time and not part-time and where you can be net earners of foreign exchange and not net users”.
The Le Jade Man Competition is being hosted by Le Jade Link Productions, a company which has been in existence for the past five years. The winner of the competition, which is expected to be held early next year, will receive a prize package valued at $10,000. It will be inclusive of the Le Jade Campaign Model for one year; modelling contracts with leading advertising agencies; a wardrobe for one year, along with several other prizes.
