Come this Saturday, April 21, the track and field events of the annual National Senior Games will be staged at the National Stadium, Waterford, St. Michael.

The family-oriented affair will begin at 8:00 a.m. with an opening ceremony, where Minister of Family, Culture, Sports and Youth, Stephen Lashley, will welcome patrons to the event, and Minister of Social Care, Steve Blackett, will deliver the feature address.

Following the ceremony, senior athletes from across the island will compete in a variety of events, including the 100, 200, 400, 800, and 3000 metre races. The finals of the seniors’ cycling tournament will also take place during the day.

Meanwhile, there will be a health tent, where representatives from non-governmental and governmental organisations will conduct blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure checks, as well as HIV testing and counselling.??????????

There will be a jumping tent for the children, a number of giveaways and an entertainment package. Music will be provided by DJ Sylk, while Carl "Alf" Padmore will be the master of ceremonies.

Tickets for the Games are on sale at CS Pharmacy, Broad Street; Carlton Supermarket, Black Rock; Emerald City Supermarket, Six Roads; Fisherman’s Pub, Speightstown; Joe’s Pharmacy, Oistins; and Sports and Games, Barbados Limited, Corner of James and Roebuck Streets.
