Over the next two months some 18 organisations will be sensitised about the associated dangers of mosquitoes and rodents.

The exercise, which is being conducted by the Vector Control Unit of the Health Ministry, is aimed at 5,000 individuals within public and private sector organisations.

It began on April 8, with the Government-owned Transport Board at Weymouth, St. Michael and on April 15 Environmental Health Officers visited the HMS Coast Guard at Pelican.

The team from the Unit will continue this week with visits to the Barbados Fire Service on Probyn Street on Wednesday, April 22 and the Land Tax and Land Valuation Department in the National Insurance Building, Fairchild Street, on April 24 from 9:30 a.m.

On Monday, April 27, the officers will turn attention to the Electoral Department, in the National Insurance Building, and will return to the Transport Board (Mangrove Depot) on Wednesday, April 29.

Employees will be instructed on how to detect the mosquito larvae and eggs and the importance of rodent baiting. Equipment used by the Unit, including the fogging machine, bait stations and the black lamp, will also be displayed.
