Public officers will receive additional assistance to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic when a series of interactive seminars is held over the next three weeks.

The seminars, under the theme: Responding to COVID-19: Dealing With Fear and Anxiety, will be held on Wednesday, June 10; Tuesday, June 16; Thursday, June 18; Tuesday, June 23 and Thursday, June 25, via Zoom.

The five seminars are being held under the Ministry of the Public Service’s Employee Assistance Programme portfolio and they will be conducted by the Network Services Centre.

Public officers will receive strategies to cope in these difficult times, as well as be given help to understand their feelings and recognize typical behavioural responses. Those persons who have queries about the seminars should call 535-4565.

Assistant Director in the People Support and Wellness Unit, Susan Sealy, said some public officers had already registered for the discussions while others had expressed interest in participating.

In addition, she pointed out that Tip Sheets outlining strategies and solutions to manage the health and well-being of officers had been developed and two had already been shared with public officers.

“We have received some feedback from officers, thanking us for the valuable tips and others have even requested additional information,” Ms. Sealy stated.

She noted that the online interactive sessions and the Tip Sheets were some of the new initiatives introduced by the Ministry of the Public Service to provide preventative and proactive interventions for the early detection, identification and resolution of any issues which could adversely affect employee well-being, performance and productivity.
