A special ecumenical service of thanksgiving to mark this country???s 47th anniversary of Independence will be staged this Sunday, November 24, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St. Michael, beginning at 4:00 p.m.

This year???s theme Encouraging Each Other with Hope and Unity is designed to reflect the importance of all Barbadians coming together to weather any crisis which the country may face.

Special prayers will be said for the nation, the youth, government, family life and persons living with disabilities. An 80-member national mass choir will render musical selections from 3:00 p.m. until the official start at 4:00 p.m.

The Right Reverend Monsignor Vincent Blackett of St. Patrick???s Roman Catholic Church will be the Officiating Minister, while Dean of the Cathedral of St. Michael and All Angels, The Very Reverend Dr. Frank Marshall will deliver the sermon. Archbishop of the West Indies and Bishop of Barbados, The Most Reverend, Dr. the Hon. John Holder will give the closing prayer and Blessing.

Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave, Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, members of Cabinet, the diplomatic corps, community groups and other specially invited guests will be in attendance.

During the service, a special collection will be taken with the monies donated to the Cancer Support Services and the Barbados Prison Fellowship.
