The accomplishments of the nation’s children will take the spotlight this month when the Child Care Board again organises several events to celebrate young people.

This year’s theme for child month is Empower Our Families: Save Our Children and members of the public are encouraged to join in the activities.

For the entire month, government day nurseries will open their doors from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays to familiarise persons with the work done there.??Members of the public will also get an opportunity to view artwork and craft produced by children and staff respectively.

On Friday, May 6, a number of schools will participate in the All God’s Children: One Big Family worship session, at the Abundant Life Assembly, Bush Hall, St. Michael, starting at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, May 7, will be observed as Children’s Sabbath, while on Children’s Sunday, May 8, churches are encouraged to integrate young ones into their services.

There will be a parenting workshop for children’s attendants and house parents from May 10 to 31, at Stirling Children’s Home, St. Philip. On Tuesday, May 17, a parenting forum on DNA Testing and Implication for Men and Children will be held in the Atrium Room, Supreme Court Building, The City, from 5:30 p.m.

The following day, Wednesday, May 18, there will be a youth forum on Teenage Pregnancy: Life Before, Life After at the Barbados Workers’ Union Auditorium, Solidarity House, Harmony Hall, St. Michael, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

A family fun day and mini Olympics for the children in care will be held on Saturday, May 21, from 9:00 a.m. in the King George V Memorial Park, St. Philip.

There will be a seminar for operators of private day care centres on Preparing for a Brighter Future at the Barbados Workers’ Union, Solidarity House, Harmony Hall, St. Michael, on Thursday, May 26, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Members of staff of the Child Care Board will become more familiar with our environment when they go on a tour from Bath to Pot House, St. John, on Saturday, May 28, starting at 8:30 a.m. The curtain comes down on the celebrations on Tuesday, May 31, with a Social Services Expo in Jubilee Gardens, the City, from 9:00 a.m.
