Barbadian fathers will take the spotlight over the next few days as the Bureau of Gender Affairs and its partners focus public attention on their positive contributions to this nation’s development.

Several activities have been planned under the theme "Loving Men Build Strong Families" to commemorate Father’s Day on Sunday, June 21. ??Acting Director, John Hollingsworth, is urging Barbadians to support the events, starting with a service on that day at the Bank Hall Church of the Nazarene, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

"The Role of Men in Today’s Changing Society" is the topic of a panel discussion scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, at the Barbados Workers’ Union Headquarters, Solidarity House, St. Michael, commencing at 7:00 p.m. Panellists will include attorney-at-law, Wilfred Abrahams and Chairman of the HIV/AIDS Youth Committee, Corey Layne.?? Announcer, Dennis Johnson, will be the moderator.

Celebrations will climax on Saturday, June 27, with a Family Fun Day at Queen’s Park, Bridgetown, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Dominoes, tug-o-war, a softball cricket competition, egg and spoon races, jumping tent and karaoke will provide the enjoyment for patrons.?? Blood pressure, sugar and cholesterol checks will be done throughout the day.
