The stage is set for an exciting launch of the National Youth Forum on Sunday, June 20, at the Sheraton Mall, Sargeants Village, Christ Church.

That’s the word from Minister of Youth, Stephen Lashley, who described the evening’s proceedings as "a developmental exercise". He stated: "It will be an uplifting ??event which will showcase the many talents of young Barbadians, whether it is in the areas of athletics, entertainment, entrepreneurship or academia."??

Vauxhall Steel Orchestra will entertain the audience from 5:30 p.m. until the official start at 6:00 p.m. The entertainment package will include Praise Academy of Dance, Xtra Hype, poet Adrian Green, Sir Ruel, Dwayne Husbands, Edwin Yearwood and Krosfyah, and Kirk Browne and the band Strategy

There will also be a number of multi-media presentations and speeches from several outstanding young Barbadians and the Minister of Youth, Stephen Lashley; Minister of Education, Ronald Jones; Minister of Culture, Steve Blackett; and Minister of State in the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Patrick Todd. The launch will be carried live on CBC TV channel 8 and 98.1 FM and Minister Lashley is expected to deliver the feature address around 7:30 p.m.

A free shuttle from the Wildey Gymnasium to Sheraton Mall, will start at 5:00 p.m., and motorists are being encouraged to park at the gym, since there will be limited parking at the mall.

Additionally, the Transport Board and the minibus association are expected to increase transportation on the day.

Inspector Margaret Stephens of the Royal Barbados Police Force said police officers would be stationed at critical junctions to ensure the free flow of traffic. She added that no illegal parking or vending would be allowed along the roadway or next to Sheraton Mall. saustin@barbados.gov.bb
