Former banker and veteran sport administrator, Austin Llewellyn Sealy, was invested with the insignia of Knight Bachelor by Governor General, Sir Elliott Belgrave, during a ceremony today at Government House.

Sir Austin, who was awarded in the 2015 Queen???s New Year Honours List, was knighted in the presence of his son, Acting Prime Minister Richard Sealy, as well as several relatives and friends.

???It???s nice to be honoured, but I must share it with all those who have assisted me along the way, and of course I thank the Lord for being alive for this day,??? Sir Austin stated after the ceremony

Recognised for distinguished service to sport administration, an area in which he has been involved from the 1970s, Sir Austin has been a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since 1994.

He contributed to the success of the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 through his work on the IOC???s Coordination Commission, and was a member of The Coordination Commission for the 2012 Games in London.??In 1985, Sir Austin was awarded the Silver Crown of Merit by the Government of Barbados.
