The Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology (SJPI) has partnered with international non-profit skills development organisation, ABE UK, to offer a new qualification, the Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Business Management.

According to a media release from the SJPI, the diploma will provide students with valuable business training skills, supported by experienced professionals.

It will cover subjects such as Dynamic Business Environments, Enterprising Organisations, Employability and Self-Development, and Finance for Managers.

The pathway would open the door to greater knowledge about careers in business and provide a faster route to diploma level or UK degree programmes.

The first intake of students will be in August 2021.

Welcoming the partnership, Principal of the SJPI, Ian Drakes, said: “We are excited about this programme and believe it will add personal development, as well as professional value to all participants.”

SJPI’s Acting Deputy Principal, Brenda Osbourne, described the new programme as “a great fit” with the institute’s vision for technical excellence.

“It will be offered to students within our Distance and Continuing/Open and Flexible Learning Division; it will reinforce SJPI’s reputation for providing highly employable graduates with good communication and interpersonal skills who are afforded the opportunity for employment with top employers.  We are delighted to be working with ABE. They are a perfect partner for the new business management programme – ensuring the best possible support and experience for students,” she added.

SJPI has also announced that it would be offering partial scholarships to students who enroll in the new programme, thanks to the assistance of donors.

To register and take advantage of the scholarship opportunity, prospective students should complete and email the online application form at www.sjpi.edu.bb. For more information, interested persons should visit www.sjpi.edu.bb; call 535-2301, or email abe@sjpi.edu.bb.
