Over the next week, the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic (SJPP) will be celebrating an important landmark, its 40th anniversary.?? A number of events will be held during this time, starting with a public lecture tomorrow, Thursday, September 24.?? It comes off in the institution’s Wildey, St. Michael, auditorium starting at 7:30 p.m.

Entitled "Samuel Jackman Prescod’s Campaign Against Slavery… Under Another Name", it will be delivered by Dr. Alana Johnson, Lecturer in the Department of History and Philosophy at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.

On Sunday, September 27 at 4:00 p.m., there will be a recital and wreath-laying ceremony at St. Mary’s Church, the City, in commemoration of Samuel Jackman Prescod.?? Acting Minister of Education, Patrick Todd, will address the ceremony.

Meanwhile, the SJPP will host two Open Days on Thursday and Friday, October 29 and 30, respectively, which will display students work in various disciplines and promote courses currently offered by the institution.?? It will also highlight achievements of past students as well as linkages between the SJPP and its partners in industry, the community and in the public and private sectors.

Prime Minister David Thompson will address the gathering on Thursday, October 29, at 3:00 p.m.
