???A Health Fair with a difference’ is what the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic (SJPP) is promising to host come Thursday, November 10.

According to a member the fair’s Planning Committee, the emphasis this year will be on HIV and AIDS education and prevention. ??As a result, the keynote address at the start of the event will be given by the Director of the HIV/AIDS Commission, Jacqui Wiltshire-Gay.?? "The idea is to draw attention to the seriousness of the disease that has afflicted many of our youth, and further promote ways to avoid contracting the dreaded disease," she said.

Several other health-related topics will be highlighted during the fair, which runs from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on that day.?? In addition, visitors will benefit from free health checks for blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and HIV.?? Mammograms will also be done on request.

The event is being put on free of charge, but a number of healthy food snacks, recommended by health professionals, will be on sale to patrons.??
