People living in the east of Barbados have been making full use of the resources of the Small Business Association’s (SBA) satellite office at Six Roads, St Philip.

The office opened for business on June 11, 2007 and activities are being planned later this month to celebrate its first anniversary.

Acting  Executive Director of the SBA, Lynette Holder said that so far, some 542 persons had passed through the office based on statistics contained in the SBA’s eastern office operational report for the period June 2007 to April 24, this year.

Ms. Holder said she was heartened by the response from the public. “The bulk of visitors came to the eastern office during registration for the entrepreneurial training programme or to take part in activities hosted by the office.”

She said there were no immediate plans for another satellite office but disclosed that the St. Philip branch would also be used to reach out to entrepreneurs living in Christ Church.

Last year, the satellite office hosted a number of activities including a membership fair, technical assistance programmes for businesses in the eastern zone, educational clinics, and a heritage fair.
