Small Island Future Festival. (The Global Environmental Facility Small Grants Programme -Barbados )

Barbados’ biggest environmental event will be held this Friday, June 28, and Saturday, June 29, at Pelican Village, Princess Alice Highway, Bridgetown.

The two-day Small Island Future Fest (SIFF) Project, is being hosted by UNDP-GEF Small Grants Programme, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and National Beautification, the BlueGreenInitiative and several private stakeholders.

Operations Coordinator with the BlueGreenInitiative, Shelly-Ann Cox, stated that SIFF is the rebranding of what was formerly known as the SGP Green Knowledge Fair.

She said that it “is a dynamic collaboration, where Green meets Blue”, and will focus on promoting sustainable development challenges, issues and solutions.

At SIFF, there will be a wide range of activities, from eco-attractions to exhibitions in film, fashion and fitness; competitions, delicious food, and a kid’s zone.

There will also be performances by Ch’An, Mikey, Damian Marvay, Biggie Irie, and Altered Fifth; an open mic session with DJ Simmons; and fireworks. SIFF is free, and the public is invited to come out and be a part of this environmental festival.
