The WorldSkills Russia (WSR) Nationals – Digital and Hybrid Eurasian Hairdressing Competition, in which Barbados and four other countries are competing, got off to a terrific start. Uzbekistan, which was expected to take part withdrew from the competition.

Day one of the competition, which commenced at 2:00 a.m. Barbados time and 9:00 a.m. Moscow time on Wednesday, July 7, was divided into two parts.

Module one challenged each competitor to create a gathered hairstyle with colour for women. While the second module focused on creating a permanent wave hairdo and style.

The WorldSkills Barbados (WSB) Training Squad competitor, Rachelle Jones, described her first day of the competition as an interesting one. “There was a lot to adjust to in terms of competing against different competitors from different countries.”

She added: “Overall, it was a long and winding road, but it was also quite exhilarating. Day two has piqued my interest, and I am eager to get started.”

The WorldSkills Russia National Competition continues today, Thursday, July 8.
