An internship opportunity is now available at the Barbados Medicinal Cannabis Licensing Authority (BMCLA) for an individual skilled in the art of social media and its related techniques.
With strategic communication considered critical to the development of the industry and the official establishment of the regulatory framework and the Authority, the BMCLA, is seeking to recruit an intern to assist in the initial development of its social media platform and support the execution of its social media strategy in order to optimise overall brand presence.
The volunteer internship is expected to run for a period of 60 days from June to August 2021 and the individual will work under the supervision of the Communications and Public Education Specialist.
Tasks to be performed include: content creation, planning, scheduling and compiling reports. The individual will therefore be part of the day-to-day activities where he/she will be creating and editing engaging content across a variety of formats, and scheduling these across multiple platforms; thus, the role requires both creative and organizational skills
Among the intern’s duties will be: supporting the development of communications tools such as brochures, infographics, fact-sheets and multi-media assets and supporting the daily management of all social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn & YouTube).
The latter will entail writing engaging posts and ensuring regular updates on social media. The successful applicant will also be expected to keep up to date on new social media tools, best practices and how other organizations and companies are using them to identify new campaigning opportunities.
