The five-member delegation is being led by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Senator Darcy Boyce; and includes Chairman of the Barbados Private Sector Association, John Williams; President of the Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados, Cedric Murrell; and Permanent Secretary with responsibility for Investment, Juanita Thorington-Powlett.

Senator Boyce, Mr. Williams and Mr. Murrell chair the three working groups – Efficiency, Growth and Social Safety Net – of the Barbados Action Team which is part of the Social Partnership. The group was invited to the Forum and is expected to make presentations on how the social partnership works and identify some of its biggest challenges, among other areas.

The Caribbean Growth Forum (CGF) is an initiative supported by the Compete Caribbean/Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the World Bank, and the Caribbean Development Bank, in collaboration with the United Kingdom Agency for International Development and the Canadian International Development Agency.

It aims to facilitate a platform for public/private dialogue on the growth challenge, with a view to identifying practical and implementable solutions that will inspire action in each of the 15 Caribbean countries.

The CGF engages a broad group of stakeholders, reaching beyond the traditional ones to other critical players in the dialogue on economic growth, including the private sector (both small and large enterprises), the youth, civil society, the media and the Caribbean Diaspora.
