The popular South Coast boardwalk at Hastings Rock, Christ Church will be officially named The Richard Haynes Boardwalk this Sunday, January 29.
This is in recognition of Sir Richard’s sterling contribution to the political and social development of Barbados in general, and to the commercial development of the environs of Rockley, Christ Church.
Prime Minister Freundel Stuart will deliver the feature address at the ceremony, which is slated to get under way at 4:00 p.m.
Recognised as the flagship project under the Coastal Infrastructure Programme, the boardwalk stretches over 1.2 km, from Rockley Beach to just west of the Sierra Hotel. It was designed to provide continuous public access along the shoreline and enhance beaches where feasible and appropriate.
The refurbished Bandstand will also be reopened on this date.
