Renewable energy, the green and creative economies and the cultural industries, were some of the issues discussed when Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea Wonkun Hwang paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Senator Maxine McClean recently at her Culloden Road office.

Senator McClean said that Barbados was hoping to develop a new creative economy with the introduction of a number of programmes at the University of the West Indies, in the areas of music and film.

She also expressed interest in forming a bilateral relationship with South Korea through a double taxation agreement.

Meanwhile, Senator McClean and Ambassador Wonkun agreed that next year both countries should continue discussion on areas of mutual concern as well as further cement existing ties by arranging cultural exchanges.

Barbados and the Republic of South Korea established diplomatic relations in November 1977.
