As part of continuing efforts to roll out the Schools’ Positive Behaviour Management Programme (SPBMP), the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation will, next week, provide training for principals of schools not yet on board with the programme.

The workshops will take place on July 1 and 2 at the United Nations’ House (UN), Marine Gardens, Christ Church from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. each day.?? The public primary schools’ sessions will be on Monday, July 1, while the public secondary and private primary and secondary schools will have their sessions on Tuesday, July 2.??

A key aim of the training is to bring schools on board by September through educating principals about the three pillars of the programme – child-centredness; democratic participation and inclusiveness – and ensure the effective implementation of SPBMP within their classrooms.??

The sessions are also expected to address meaningful student involvement and student leadership; appropriate parental involvement; life skills and health and family life education.??

Senior Education Officer, (Nursery and Primary), Joy Adamson will address the start of the workshops, while Education Officer and SPBMP Focal Point, Janice Reid will make a presentation on the SPBMP.
