Come next week, principals and teachers of some 33 primary and secondary schools, involved in the Schools’ Positive Behaviour Management Programme (SPBMP), will learn more about managing children with behavioural problems.

This is when the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, in conjunction with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), holds a two-day workshop on Thursday, November 24 and Friday, November 25.

Assessment and Intervention Strategies For Students With Behavioural Challenges is the title of the seminar, which will be facilitated by Psychologist and Lecturer at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Dr. Diana Holder.

It will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the St. Leonard’s Boys’ School, Richmond Gap.

The key aims of the training are to develop ways of recognising students who are experiencing behavioural challenges, identify indicators of behavioural disorders and determine appropriate strategies to address the challenges.
