Barbadians and visitors alike are in for a treat, as this country hosts its annual Independence Ceremonial Parade on Tuesday, November 30 at the Garrison Savannah, beginning at 8:00 a.m.
Hundreds of detachments of armed and unarmed military and para-military units of the Barbados Defence Force, the Royal Barbados Police Force and its mounted troop; the Barbados Cadet Corps, the Barbados Prison Service, the Barbados Boys’ Scouts Association and the Girl Guides Association, will take part in the national event.
The Barbados Red Cross, the St. John’s Ambulance Brigade, the Barbados Landship and the National Conservation Commission are also expected to participate.
They will parade before a host of dignitaries, including Governor-General, Sir Clifford Husbands, Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, members of Cabinet and the diplomatic corps.
Following the ceremony at the Garrison Savannah, troops will march to Bay Street, where the Prime Minister will take the salute.
In the event of inclement weather, the Bridgetown Port will be the alternate venue.
No parking will be allowed around the Garrison Savannah, Bush Hill, Bay Street, or Highway 7 on Tuesday, November 30, Independence Day, between 6:00 and 11:00 a.m.
However, parking will be available at the Barbados Museum, the National Union of Public Workers, or the Barbados Tourism Investment Inc.
Vendors, with the appropriate licences, will be permitted to ply their trade at the Garrison Savannah.??clashley@barbados.gov.bb
