The climax of this year’s community independence activities will come off this Saturday, November 21, with a grand show at the Garfield Sobers Complex, starting at 6:00 p.m.

The 13th annual Spirit of the Nation Show, coordinated by the Community Independence Celebrations Secretariat (CICS), will showcase the best community talent in dance, song, poetry and drama.

It will be held under theme "From Country to Town, All Uh We Is One."

This year’s parish talent will be keenly contested with Jada Holder flying?? the flag for St. Joseph, Tiffany Forde representing St. John; Vickie Butcher, St. George; and Diving Praise, St. Thomas.

Other parish performers are Keith Moore of St. Michael; Joseph Callendar of St. Philip; Alister Griffith of Christ Church; Lianne Hinds of St. Lucy; Tyesha Clarke, St. Peter; Trudi-Rose Brathwaite and Micah Humphrey, St. James and Kadeesha and Friends of St. Andrew.

Twenty-two contestants will also vie for the crown of Most Outstanding Parish Ambassadors. They will appear onstage in costume and formal wear and give oral presentations on their parish projects, which will focus this year on the theme "The Environment…Towards a Greener Barbados."

The guest artist for the 2009 ceremony will be former calypso monarch John King.

Patrons are being urged to show their support for the Parish Ambassadors and the Parish Talent entrants by wearing their parish colours.
