The feet of close to 900 children will soon be "on fire" when they show off their athletic prowess while competing in the National Summer Camp Programme’s sports days.

Over two days, starting next Monday, August 9, some of the campers will engage in field events, to be followed on Tuesday, August 10, with track activities. The athletic meet will be held at the National Stadium and children from the four zones – northern, southern, central and eastern – will compete.

The athletes will receive support from their peers on Tuesday when the 9000-odd campers converge at the stadium to cheer them on. An official opening ceremony has been planned for that day, which will include a parade of teams and an address by Minister of Sports, Stephen Lashley, at 9.00 a.m. saustin@barbados.gov.bb
