“He who does not know can know from learning” is the theme of the African Awareness Programme to be held tomorrow, Friday, February 19, at St. Alban???s Primary School.

This African saying will be portrayed through a series of workshops and lecture presentations that will run from 10:00 a.m. to noon.

Students from Infants to Class 4 will hear from those in the society with an African background, including Dr. Anthony ???Gabby??? Carter, who has been designated a King in Africa.??The world renowned calypsonian will speak to Class 4s on the theme, as well as his visits to Africa.

Dramatist Sonia Williams will showcase: Music and African Games to those in Infants A and B, while Herbalist Roberta Phillips will undertake a cooking demonstration of African herbs and spices with the Class 3s.

Also on the programme is Len Sehntwali, famous for his African musical instruments, Anansi fables and stilt walking daughter, Eja. Teacher Julia Mascoll will also demonstrate to her charges in Reception the art of tie-dyeing.

On that day, students and teachers will wear and model African garb. There will also be an exhibition of food, drinks and artefacts from Africa.
