The St. George Parish Independence Committee (PIC) will launch its parish project this coming Saturday, June 5, World Environment Day, at the Brighton Plantation, Brighton, St. George at 10:00 a.m.

Entitled "The Sugar Basket…The Economic Bedrock of Barbados", the project is intended to revitalise Barbados’ tourism product, attract investment, increase job opportunities and highlight St. George’s unique heritage.

Minister of Agriculture, Senator Haynesley Benn will deliver the feature address and officially launch the event, while Ena Harvey of the Inter-America Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture will give remarks. The Parish Ambassadors Anecia Farley and Renaldo Yarde will also be on hand to outline the project.
