Parents and guardians of pupils of St. Lawrence Primary School, St. Lawrence, Christ Church, are advised that the school will be closed from tomorrow, Monday, February 26, due to ongoing environmental problems relating to the sewerage system along the south coast.

According to Chief Education Officer, Karen Best, also starting tomorrow, Class Four pupils who are preparing to sit the Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examination in May will be accommodated at the Arthur Smith Primary School at Pleasant Hall Land, St. Matthias, Christ Church.

Parents and guardians of Class Four pupils are therefore asked to report to Arthur Smith Primary in the morning with their children or wards, where they will be briefed on the situation by Principal, Andrea Cheltenham, and the Chief Education Officer.

Meanwhile, students from Class Three and under will remain at home until alternative arrangements have been finalised by the Ministry of Education.

Mrs. Best said that the decision to temporarily close St. Lawrence Primary School until the problem has been rectified was a precautionary measure taken on the advice of the Ministry of Health on Saturday, as a result of a sewage spill on the school’s premises.

The Ministry of Education regrets any inconvenience this closure may cause.
