Students of St. Margaret???s Primary School in St. John are celebrating after winning this year???s St. Philip Polyclinic???s Primary Schools??? Quiz Competition.

The St. Margaret???s team walked away with the top prizes of a trophy, four tablets and four $100 vouchers from sponsor, Shorelinez, as well as four passes for the Barbados Concorde Experience.

The students were also presented with a Challenge Plaque and their teacher won a dinner for two at Accra Beach Hotel.

Nyangie Bradshaw from St. Margaret???s was voted Most Outstanding Student, and she won a reading lamp from Exclusive Lighting, as well as $60 and a trophy from the Barbados Association of Retired Environmental Health Officers.

Second-placed in the competition was Workman???s Primary from St. George, while Reynold Weekes Primary from St. Philip was third. Erin Deane of Reynold Weekes won the prize for the Best Speller.??The competition attracted 17 primary schools in St. George, St. John and St. Philip, with a total of 51 participants.

The quiz focused on mosquito control, covering topics such as chikungunya, dengue fever and yellow fever; rodent control with emphasis on leptospirosis, Hanta virus and salmonellosis; as well as solid waste management. Categories for judging were spelling, general knowledge, and true or false.
