Health Begins with You is the theme of a health fair to be hosted on Friday, March 31, at the St. Martin’s Mangrove Primary School in St. Philip.

The all-day affair, which gets under way at 9:15 a.m., will showcase a number of exhibits and booths from organisations across Barbados.

These include displays from the Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme Programme, the Red Cross, and the Centre for Complementary Medicine.

There will also be interactive booths operated by the Barbados Meteorological Services; National Disabilities Unit; Heart and Stroke Foundation; Asthma Association, Psychiatric Hospital and the National Council on Substance Abuse.

Patrons can also visit the school and have their hair cut and purchase self-care products, vegan foods, natural juices and healthy snacks.  The Coverley Medical Centre will also be on hand to undertake blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol checks.  Anthurium flowers will also be sale.

Meanwhile, Psychologist with the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training, Juanita Brathwaite-Wharton, will make a presentation to Class 4 students on Mental Health and the Common Entrance Examination, while Shawn Clarke of the Supreme Counselling Services will look at bullying.  Personnel from the island’s polyclinics will discuss environmental health.
