As this country’s anniversary of independence draws nearer, the St. Michael Parish Independence Committee has embarked on a number of community-oriented activities.

Next week, members will attend a church service on Sunday, August 14 at the Mayers Pentecostal Church, My Lord’s Hill, St. Michael, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Later that day, residents of the parish will showcase their talent in the form of an extravaganza under the theme De Talent of Our People Coming Alive. ??

It will be staged at the Ellerslie Secondary School, Black Rock, St. Michael, starting at 5:00 p.m. There will be an entrance fee.

A panel discussion entitled Reusable Energy will be the topic for discussion on Wednesday, August 17, at the Ann Gill Memorial Methodist Church, Fairfield, Black Rock, St. Michael beginning at 7:00 p.m. Panellists will include Managing Director of Solar Dynamics Ltd., James Husbands; Energy Conservation Consultant, Dr. Erskine Simmons; Electrician, Lennis Greaves; and entrepreneur, Wayne Marshall. The moderator will be Committee Chairman, Rudolph Sandiford.?? During the session, there will be presentations on ways to reduce the amount of kilowatts used in the household and the sustainability and benefits of solar energy.

Activities will culminate with a T20 night cricket match on Wednesday, August 31, at the Blenheim Pasture, Ivy, St. Michael at 7:00 p.m.?? The public is invited to come out and support these events.
