Residents of St. Michael and other interested persons are invited to a town hall meeting on St. Michael Heritage: Its Economic and Social Benefits for Local Communities.
The meeting, hosted by the St. Michael Parish Independence Committee, will be held on Saturday, June 15, at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Bay Street, St. Michael, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
It serves to inform the residents of St. Michael about the importance of appreciating, preserving and maintaining their heritage, as well as the parish’s heritage and value to Barbados.
Residents will also be apprised of heritage education and career paths, as well as the value of Heritage Tourism to Barbados.
The featured speakers will be Deputy Director of the Barbados Museum and Historical Society, Kevin Farmer; Lecturer in the Department of History and Philosophy at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Dr. Tara Inniss; Senior Cultural Policy Officer at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Culture and Sports, Sheron Johnson; and Product Manager at the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc., Terry Vanterpool-Fox.
Additionally, persons are invited to a Heritage Community Clean Up in Golden Square, Bridgetown, on Saturday, June 29, at 6:00 a.m., also hosted by the Committee.
Community groups, businesses, schools and residents of St. Michael are invited to participate in this initiative.
