Residents of St. Michael are urged to participate in a Shelter Management Simulation Exercise, being hosted by the St. Michael Parish Independence Committee, in collaboration with the St. Michael South District Emergency Organization.

It will be held on Saturday, October 20, at the Bay Primary School, Bayville, St. Michael, beginning at 8:00 a.m.

This exercise seeks to familiarize community members with an 8-hour shelter experience, where they will undergo the process of registration, and learn about communications and information, first aid, security measures, the required food and clothing, as well as the dos and don’ts of shelter management.

Volunteers will be given an opportunity to better understand and assess the needs of individuals in an emergency shelter during a disaster, such as a hurricane.

Individuals and community-based groups interested in participating should call the Community Independence Celebrations Secretariat at 621-2700, or email the parish independence committee at info@stmichaelpic.com.
