The St. Michael School will this Thursday, October 23, launch the Schools??? Positive Behaviour Management Programme (SPBMP) at the institution on Martindale???s Road.

In recognition of the integral role to be played by parents in many of the school???s activities, the SPBMP will be launched in a novel way.

The implementation of SPBMP will be formally introduced by having parents ???sign on??? during a meeting of the Parent Teachers??? Association at 5:00 p.m. that day.Team leader, Mitchelle Maxwell, will address the meeting.

SPBMP is guided by three basic principles, namely child centredness, democratic participation and inclusiveness (equity). Its key objective is to bring behavioural change to classrooms with the assistance of principals, teachers, parents/guardians and the community, as a whole.

In an SPBMP classroom, the teacher is a mentor, facilitator of learning and coordinator of learning activities. Creativity, openness, flexibility, tolerance, good leadership and organisational skills become the avenues through which effective learning and teaching are maintained.
