The St. Thomas Parish Independence Committee (PIC) recently launched its parish project, ??????so leh we G.R.E.E.N,??? at the Hillaby/Turner???s Hall Primary School.

During the launch, Ambassadors, Kerri Neil and Kayla Fagan and Attendant, Mellis Bailey, spoke to students about the project and encouraged them to engage in ???greening??? practices at their school, such as introducing a kitchen or tyre garden.

In addition to addressing the students, the Ambassadors, Attendant and PIC members planted trees such as immortelle, flamboyant, mango, cherry and grapefruit. They also donated cucumber, cauliflower, broccoli and celery seeds to the school to assist in the development of the kitchen garden.

Furthermore, the Ambassadors launched a poster competition for ??????so leh we G.R.E.E.N???, which encourages students to demonstrate through art what they have learnt about the project, especially as it relates to greening and the maintenance of their surroundings.

Principal of Hillaby/Turner???s Hall, Karen Best, was supportive of the venture, and assured the Ambassadors and Attendant that her school would lend assistance, where necessary.
