The Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training. (FP)

The Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training wishes to inform the public that the Ministry and its stakeholders are in consultation with the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) relative to the CAPE results of the June/July 2021 examinations.

Subsequent to the release of grades, it had been brought to our attention that the grades that some of our students received were not in alignment with expected grades.

As a result, the Ministry met with the President and representatives of the Barbados Association of Principals of Public Secondary Schools, the President of the Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Union, representatives of the Barbados National Council of Parent Teacher Associations and the Group of Concerned Parents of Barbados allied with Student Advocates to discuss matters concerning the examination.

On Wednesday, November 10, for the first time as a unified body, the Ministry and its stakeholders engaged CXC on matters of concern relating to examinations.  A second meeting was convened on Monday, November 22, and it was indicated that, after initial review, there will be adjustments to some of the grades that were previously issued. The reviewed grades are subject to final approval.

CXC has assured the Ministry that reviewed grades will be issued next week. Subsequent to the release of the grades, the Ministry will make the announcement of the Barbados Scholarship and Exhibition winners.

The Ministry thanks the public for their understanding in this regard and will continue to provide updates on this matter.
