??
Chief Education Officer, Laurie King (FP)??

Statements carried in the Sunday Sun of January 15, 2012 have created an erroneous impression that the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development did not initiate any action on receipt of correspondence from the Principal of the Alexandra School on the matter of a senior teacher refusing to teach a class for a term.??

I wish to state emphatically that I never received such correspondence, and my investigations have revealed that there is NO record of the receipt of such or ANY OTHER document pertaining to this matter in the office of the Chief Education Officer or the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development.?? No action could have been initiated as I was totally unaware of the purported letters as displayed in the said article.??

On January 6, 2012, I requested a report from the Principal of Alexandra School on this matter which was only recently brought to my attention.?? This report was received by the Ministry on January 9, 2012, accompanied by two unsigned letters, one addressed to the Chief Education Officer and one addressed to a Mrs. Amaida Greaves.

It appears as though those are the said letters which appeared in the Sunday Sun of January 15, 2012.
