Statement By The Minister Of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment, Urban And Rural Development, Christopher Sinckler, On The Passing Of Mrs. Kathleen Drayton

I wish to extend sincere condolences to the family of the late Kathleen Drayton on her passing. The Ministry of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment, Urban and Rural Development has had a warm and most collaborative relationship with Mrs. Drayton over the years.

More recently, she was the representative of BARP on the National Assessment Team (NAT) of the Country Assessment of Living Conditions, commonly known as the National Poverty Survey, set up in April this year. She played an active role during the first set of meetings of the NAT, including participation in the Orientation Session held on Monday, June 22, 2009. She ensured that members were aware of the recent study on retired persons in Barbados carried out by the BARP and immediately made it available to the NAT.

Kathleen worked with passion and commitment, and always paid great attention to detail. She brought a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge to any assignment that she undertook in the field of social development. Her contribution will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace.
