Aspiring artists in this island’s secondary schools, still have time to showcase their artistic skills by participating in the Barbados National Oil Company Limited’s (BNOCL) poster competition.

It will give students the opportunity to test their knowledge about alternative energy sources, while displaying their creativity.

The theme is Save Energy, Save Money, with secondary areas such as Efficient Use of Energy, Sustainable Energy Use, Renewable Energy and Energy Innovation.

Each individual poster must be submitted through the contestant’s school and produced in a horizontal format, 13 inches high by 18 inches wide.?? It should contain a short text describing the poster’s theme in no more than 200 words; the entrant’s name, age, school and contact information.

Posters will be judged on their connection to the primary and secondary themes’ originality, materials used, innovation and aesthetics. The entries must be submitted no later than Friday, October 22, by 4:00 p.m.

The grand prize winner in both age groups will receive iPod Touch and iPod Classic multi-media devices.?? The 12 winning posters will be published in the company’s 2011 calendar and other related promotional production.
