Students who participated in the local level of the 2015 Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association will be rewarded for their efforts next week.

They will receive their awards during a prize giving ceremony being organised by the National Tourism Host Programme of the Barbados Tourism Product Authority (BTPA).

It will be held next Friday, September 25, in the Lecture Theatre Room, First Floor, Warrens Office Complex, Warrens, St. Michael, at 9:30 a.m.??Chief Executive Officer of the BTPA, Dr. Kerry Hall, will deliver brief remarks and present the winners with their prizes and certificates of participation.

The essay competition was conducted in two age categories ??? the Junior Division, which was open to children aged 12 and under, and the Senior Division, opened to children aged 13 to 16. They all wrote on the topic: How has the Cruise Industry Improved my Country (Barbados)?

Winners of the competition at the local level will receive the following cash prizes: Junior Division – BDS$300 for 1st place; BDS $250 for 2nd place; and BDS $200 for 3rd place; and Senior Division ??? BDS $400 for 1st place; BDS $350 for 2nd place; and BDS $300 for 3rd place. The school of each winning student will be awarded with book prizes.

First place entries in the local competition will be submitted as Barbados??? entries to the regional leg of the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association???s Children???s Essay Competition.
