The Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation is set to host an executive team of visiting professors and faculty from Fort Valley State University (FSVU), in the United States of America, next week.

President of Fort Valley State University, Dr. Ivelaw Griffith, and his team of Professor Govind Kannan, Dean of the College of Agriculture, Family Sciences, and Technology; and Director of Admissions, Calanda Wright, will seek to raise awareness about the American university, recruit Barbadian students for studies there and build relationships with government and key stakeholders on the island.

Located in Fort Valley, Georgia, FSVU is one of three public black colleges and universities there. It is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award baccalaureate, master and education specialist degrees.

The Ministry will facilitate the FSVU team by hosting a press conference at Courtyard by Marriott on Monday, November 10, from 8:00 a.m. This will be followed by a stakeholders??? meeting and breakfast at the same venue from 8:30 until 10:30 a.m.

Parliamentary Secretary, Senator Harcourt Husbands; Deputy Permanent Secretary, Charley Browne; and several education officials and representatives from the Ministries of Agriculture, Health and Home Affairs are expected to be in attendance. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean, has also been invited.

Later that day, there will be a cocktail reception at Infinity on the Beach, Dover Beach, Christ Church, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.??On Tuesday, November 11, the team will host a Secondary School Information Session at The St. Michael School, Martindales Road, St. Michael, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., where students from across the island will be provided with information on Fort Valley State University.

There will also be a Public Information Session on that day at Island Inn Hotel, Aquatic Gap, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. for students, parents and guardians, as well as the general public.
