Secondary Summer School 2013 will be held at four schools across the island when the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation rolls out the programme on Monday, July 8.
There are the Frederick Smith Secondary, St. George Secondary, Christ Church Foundation and Ellerslie Secondary schools.
Frederick Smith Secondary will host children from that school as well as from Alexandra, Coleridge and Parry, Daryll Jordan, Alma Parris, and Queen’s College.
St. George Secondary will host its own students, as well as those from Grantley Adams Memorial, Alleyne and Parkinson Memorial Schools.
Christ Church Foundation School will play host to its own, as well as students from Deighton Griffith, The Lodge School, Princess Margaret, Graydon Sealy and Combermere.
Ellerslie School will host its own students, as well as those from Lester Vaughan, Springer Memorial, The St. Michael School, Harrison College and St. Leonard’s Boys’ Secondary.????
The programme starts on Monday, July 8 and ends on Wednesday, July 31. It will run Mondays to Thursdays between 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Students may register at the Ministry’s headquarters, located at the Elsie Payne Complex, Constitution Road, St. Michael, from Monday, July 1 until Friday, July 5. Registered students will be given passes to travel on the Transport Board buses.
According to a Ministry officail, students should be soberly dressed and should adhere to the rules and regulations of school.
Secondary Summer School 2013 targets first to third form students who have exhibited weaknesses in core subjects such as Mathematics, English, Social Studies and Integrated Science. They must have been selected by their respective schools to attend.
A major aim of the programme is to reduce deficits and enhance students’ performance, by paying attention to the students in a holistic manner.??
