Five schools will be used as venues when the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development holds this year’s Summer School Secondary programme. There are Alexandra, St. George Secondary, Christ Church Foundation, Ellerslie and St. Leonard’s Boys’ Secondary Schools.

The Alexandra venue will host children from that school, St. James Secondary, St. Lucy Secondary, Coleridge and Parry, and Alma Parris. ??St. George Secondary will host their own students, as well as those from Grantley Adams Memorial and the Alleyne School. ??Christ Church Foundation School will play host to its own, as well as, students from Deighton Griffith, The Lodge School and Princess Margaret.

Ellerslie School will host its own students, as well as those from Lester Vaughan, Queen’s College and Springer Memorial Secondary School.?? At St. Leonard’s Boys’ Secondary, there will be students from that school, The St. Michael School, Parkinson Memorial, Combermere and The Garrison.????

The Ministry is reminding parents/guardians that the Summer School Secondary programme, which runs from Monday, July 4 to Thursday, July 28, is only for those children who have been selected by their respective schools to attend.

A major aim of the programme is to give students a second chance to better understand concepts in such core subjects as Mathematics, English, Social Studies and Integrated Science.?? It also aims to build their life skills; correct weaknesses in aptitude and attitude; and address psychological issues that may be the underlying reasons for students’ weak performances.

Students, who have been selected, are advised to register at their respective centres at 8:30 a.m., on Monday, July 4. They must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Registered students will be given passes to ride on the Transport Board buses. ??Summer School will run Monday to Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and according to the Ministry students should be soberly dressed.
