As part of its summer programme in teacher training, the Media Resource Department (MRD) will offer two one-week workshops in the Production of Wooden Manipulatives and the Creation of Teaching Aids, respectively.

The Production of Wooden Manipulatives workshop, which runs from Monday, July 7, to Friday, July 11, will be held at the St. Leonard’s Boys??? Secondary School, Richmond Gap, St. Michael.

The other workshop will be conducted in the auditorium of the MRD at the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Elsie Payne Complex, Constitution Road, from Monday, July 14 to Friday, July 18.??The courses run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. daily.

According to the department, ???the aim of the workshops is to assist teachers in producing educational resources to complement instruction within the classroom???.

The manipulatives/teaching aids will be used in all primary schools for children ages three to 10, whether they are in the infant department, special needs classroom or experiencing challenges in the main teaching stream.

Interested teachers may register by contacting the MRD at 430-2895/430-2964/430-2847, no later than Friday, July 4.

The closing ceremony of the Production of Wooden Manipulatives workshop will be on Friday, July 11, at the St. Leonard’s Boys??? Secondary School, at 12:30 p.m. while that for the Creation of Teaching Aids workshop will be held on Friday, July 18, in the auditorium of the MRD at 12:30 p.m.

Both will include an exhibition of work by participants and will be addressed by Chief Media Resource Officer, Walter Harper and his Deputy, Burkley Lowe.
