Barbadians are being encouraged to participate in the Survey of Living Conditions (SLC) of the Country Assessment of Living Conditions (CALC) which begins today, January 11 and runs until February 28.????

The SLC involves a stratified random sample of 2.5 per cent of households in Barbados.??

CALC representatives wearing official IDs will visit residences across the country and will invite the head of households to complete the household questionnaire, while other household members 15 years and over will be invited to complete the individual questionnaire.

The survey will seek information related to living conditions such as household expenditure and income, housing, education, employment, and disabilities.

CALC is a national study that was officially launched in 2009, and is being undertaken by the Government of Barbados in conjunction with the Caribbean Development Bank.?? The study will use various research methods to assess current conditions affecting the welfare of persons living here, and identify policies, strategies, action programmes and projects that would help to reduce the extent and severity of poverty in the country.??
