The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, in conjunction with the Inter-American Development Bank, will host the Barbados Sustainable Energy Conference 2019 on Wednesday, October 2, at the Hilton Barbados Resort, Needhams Point, St. Michael, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

The key objective of the one-day conference is to launch the Barbados National Energy Policy 2019-2030. Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley will deliver the feature address at the event.

Since 2009, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has supported the Government of Barbados in the implementation of a Technical Cooperation for the Sustainable Energy Framework for Barbados (SEFB).

The general objective of the SEFB is to the support preparation and implementation of sustainable energy policies and legislation; prepare technical studies that will contribute to the promotion of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy conservation; and design financial instruments to promote large scale deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.

One such activity under the SEFB is the hosting of a high-level energy conference which will focus on new and emerging technologies and electric mobility.

Approximately 120 participants will attend the event and they will comprise a mixture of local, regional and international stakeholders from the public and private sectors.
